Students may choose to study any standard band or orchestral instrument, including:

  • Woodwinds: Flute, Clarinet, Oboe, Bassoon, Saxophone

  • Brass: Trumpet, French Horn, Trombone, Baritone, Euphonium

We use a custom method book that allows students to learn different instruments in the same class. Additional music will be selected based on student progress.

Program Commitments

Tuition

  • $50/month ($500 Total) or $450 upfront for full year, OR Until June 1 2025, there is a “returner discount” of $400

  • Tuition is based on a 10-month cycle (August–June) to account for pre- and post-year setup, as well as school holidays.

  • You’ll receive a payment link upon signup.

  • If more than 3 sessions are missed due to unforeseen cancellations, makeup time will be offered.

Full-Year Enrollment

Learning an instrument takes time, and consistency is key. A full-year commitment ensures students have time to grow, and instructors can plan with confidence. If exceptional circumstances arise, please contact us to discuss possible withdrawal.

Class Schedule

Classes at Saint Timothy will be happening on WEDNESDAYS during the 2025-26 school year. Mr. Chris will begin taking students 2nd-4th grade right after lunch. This means they will be pulled from a small amount (approx 45mins) of class time. School administration and teachers are working together to make sure this is minimally disruptive to the student’s learning, though we do ask that you commit to making up missed work when enrolling for band. Middle school students and older will be come during elective period and will stay until 3:15pm. We will dismiss straight from Band at that time. Bus riders are the only students who have a tough choice here as buses will need to run at their regular time. If this is prohibitive please reach out and I’ll try to help arrange a good carpool situation for you so your student can participate.

Instruments

Students are responsible for having an instrument.

  • We recommend our rental partnership with Music & Arts, which offers quality rent-to-own instruments at discounted rates ($25–$45/month, depending on the instrument).

  • All rental payments go toward ownership over time.

  • Already own an instrument? Great! Use that one and we’ll notify you if we think there are any issues with it.

  • Please avoid purchasing inexpensive instruments from Amazon or similar sources—these often break easily and aren’t worth repairing. If not using our rental service, be sure to rent from a reputable provider offering quality instruments.

Additional Costs

  • Minor expenses such as sheet music and accessories (e.g., reeds for woodwinds) may arise.

  • We recommend purchasing the instrument care kit offered at music stores—it contains essential tools and is well worth it.

Practice Expectations

Learning an instrument is both rewarding and challenging. To ensure steady progress, we recommend building a habit of daily practice for your student. At the beginning, we’ll take anything we can get and over time we hope they will grow into practicing 15-30mins a day.
