Springs drumming Club

The Drumming Club will be available to elementary-aged students* who are interested in drumming and percussion. The drumming ensemble will give students the opportunity to perform percussion music together. The Drumming Club will feature music that involves drumming on pads, bucket drums, along with spoken words and chants that help students learn music quickly in a fun engaging way! Students will practice after school on practice pads, but may perform on other improvised instruments such as large paint buckets, chairs, and garbage cans. The drumming ensemble is a unique opportunity for students to participate in a non-traditional ensemble with exciting and energetic music.

*In past semesters, I have had some younger students join the club with great success. If you think your child may be interested, but they are younger than elementary-age, please fill out the form and add a note under “experience level” about their age. I will reach out to you directly to talk about whether or not drumming club is a good choice for your child and address any questions you have.

What materials will i need?

Students will be expected to bring their own practice pad and a pair of drumsticks. Practice pads are small, and are usually made of rubber, allowing students to practice at home or in class without being exposed to excessively loud noise levels. They mimic the surface of a drum to allow students to develop their technique as if they are playing on an actual drum.

I recommend the “Vic Firth Heavy Hitter Slim Pad” and the “Vic Firth SD1 Drumsticks”. While any practice pad and sticks will work, I believe that these sticks are the perfect weight for elementary aged students, and the pad feels very similar to a real drum.

Please submit your information below to sign up for this semester’s drumming ensemble. I look forward to meeting the students this year and playing some great drumming music together!
