pinecrest Guitar class

This is an elective program offered to all students grades 3 and up. Mr. Cole Holland stay after school on Tuesdays from 3:45-4:30 to hold class. Students will learn basics of guitar playing including instrument technique, chords, melodies, music reading, and learning by ear.

Class will only run if a minimum of 7 students register.

The Commitments:

  • $115/Quarter: You will be invoiced via Quickbooks and may pay via ACH or Credit Card. The first quarter will be prorated by one half, because Mr. Holland will be away during the first weeks of school. Your official start date will be 9/10.

  • Full-year commitment: Getting a good sense of Guitar takes time and commitment. It will be challenging and there will be times that the student really needs to dig in and practice. We also need our teachers to have proper expectations for income across the school year. If you would like to request an exception and disenroll, we ask that you start up a conversation with us so that we can make attempts to repair before granting a disenrollment.

  • Instrument: You need to make sure your student has an instrument for our classes. Guitars are cheap enough that you should plan to purchase one. Resell value will hold if it is cared for. Please purchase one of these two guitars:

    Yamaha Guitar on Amazon

Laurel Canyon Guitar from Music and Arts

  • Other Incidental costs: These will include some sheet music and instrument accessories, for example reeds for woodwinds. Nothing in this category is expensive but we want you fully informed. When you go to Music and Arts to rent, you should get the “instrument care kit” they offer - you will end up needing it and they are not upselling you!

  • Practice: All these instruments are difficult. Progressing and enjoying the activity involves some regular practice. We recommend a minimum of 4 practices per week - roughly 30mins while accounting for some differences based on age and individual student focus level.
